Sometimes the most beautiful moments are never planned and can be felt and remembered for a long time. About 5 years ago I went to meet a friend/client who needed some professional headshots for her business card and new job. It was a very bright and sunny day, and the environment I was in was just as lovely. It was at a church and everyone seemed very friendly, even though most of them didn't speak or understood English. As I was setting up my light stand and small shoot through umbrella, I noticed this little girl around 2 or 3 years old standing in the doorway watching me. She had the most beautiful and bright eyes and even though she must have lost about 2 or 3 of her top front tooth, she was never shy about smiling. She almost reminded me of my sons childhood of how brave and focussed they were :) After my session was over I asked her mom if I could take a picture of her, and she agreed, and as you can see she was ready and born to be in front of the camera. My client loved her pictures that were beautiful, but I felt like the ones I took of this little Princess were the highlight of my day. For years I inquired with her mom's cousin and my coworker about doing a session of her, and finally the opportunity came, and I couldn't be more pleased. I almost did not recognize her at first, but she came prepared as if she was waiting for this moment. I'm always keen at getting my clients to feel comfortable in front of the cameras; as well as, helping them with their pose, but she knew exactly what to do and needed little direction. Moments like these are what I live for which is to capture the real beauty and natural emotions in others. As you can see below we got some lovely shots of her in the studio as well as in my backyard that I hate because of the size and fact that I use a push mower every week to cut and keep the grass low becase of the fear of snakes invading. Her mom and mom's cousin fell in love with my shed because of the rustic look and even tried to convince me not to fix the door. After the way these pictures turned out, I'm very much tempted to do more sessions outside. What are your thoughts? Please enjoy the images and share the link for a chance to win a free mini session and thanks for reading.
